Hello people!
It's been a little over a month (I think) since I last did a video, and trust me, I was dying on the inside wanting to do another video, but my mock examinations was breathing down my neck, and so I had to be patient.
What I did this time isn't a cover or an original song. It's a mashup! This is the very first time I try to do a mashup on my own (I once did a mashup with a friend which consists of two songs for a performance) and I wasn't planning to do one initially, but hey, creativity wants what it wants.
As you guys know, Taylor Swift recently released the music video of Wildest Dreams after announcing that this song will be her new single. I was over the moon, as I'm totally in love with the song, especially the chorus. I was obsessed with it for months before I head to college in January. What I initially planned was to do a cover of Wildest Dreams, but then I realized that my voice range doesn't sound good in this song. I can reach the high notes, but it'll be kinda stretchy and you will definitely notice the straining of my voice. I was feeling a bit down, because I really, really like this song and wanted to do a cover of it so badly, but on the other hand, I didn't want to pull down the pre-chorus by an octave, because it'll kinda ruin the feeling of the song for me.
While I was playing the song non-stop in my head, This Love (another song of Taylor Swift from the same album, 1989) comes out of nowhere and I was able to mix both of the songs together. Feeling shock and afraid that this muse will disappear, I quickly pulled out my phone and jotted down the lyrics and the sequence of it. Different songs started to play all at once in my head, and of course I was beyond thrilled, because I felt like these songs go together amazingly well. So basically, I finished the whole song while accompanying Sotong buying her toothpaste. It's kinda funny as you imagine two girls walking side by side, one kept talking about which toothpaste's the cheapest and the other wasn't bothering her at all but just scribbling furiously into her phone. Well, well.
Once we got back to college and found a spot to study (it was the last day of our mock examinations the day after), I set an alarm of 15 minutes for me to finish all the touch ups and the chords (using my phone's keyboard app) before I started studying. Even though this sounded quite rush, but I'm definitely giving my 100% in finishing this mashup, and I'm quite happy with the result of it, to be honest. You may not like it, but I do love it like it's my little baby.
